Me, Ree, Februa-ree.

Hiatus. I've been on one. I've not had much to blog about and frankly, just haven't been in the mood to be all cheery and happy about the month of January. Let's face it...January is boring and depressing. Gray skies, smog, ice, and snow. No more holiday cheer, all the organizing, starting taxes, the bills from Christmas arrive. And, to top it all off, it's so cold outside that all I've wanted to do is curl up in a warm blanket and read. Ahhhh, lovely dream....
February has begun a little better than last month. We've had slightly warmer weather (today is 60 degrees!) with a few actual sun-shiny days. The smog has cleared out and we've had plenty of Jimmer to watch on TV. I've had a few people talk me into an attitude adjustment, making me remember that I am blessed in so many ways.
A few days ago, I was perusing The Pioneer Woman's blog...If you remember, I am slightly obsessed with her blog and have cooked just about everything in her cookbook. I noticed on the blog that she is currently on a book tour and was making a stop in SLC! I was thrilled to snag tickets to the signing and my friend Vickie and I drove up to see her. We, along with a few hundred other obsessers, waited in line for our turn for a chat with Ree and an autograph in our well used cookbooks. Ree was all I imagined...sweet, kind, friendly and amazingly skinny. How is this possible? I mean the woman cooks with pounds of butter! My friend Vickie asked her what her secret was and we were relieved to learn that it's Spanx. Made me feel a little better...We posed for a picture for our posterity and made our merry way back to real life.
Me and My Gal Pal, Ree

Today is Valentines Day. I am thankful for all the Valentines in my life...especially this guy. A little over 16 years ago, we'd just had our first and second dates. I wondered if he might be my Valentine forever? Not too long after, I managed to talk him into it. Best thing I ever did.

Doesn't he look thrilled to Be My Valentine??

I'm not going to lie to you Erin, I had so much fun meeting Ree with you. I hope you entered the drawing for her sweet pioneer woman Kitchen Aid!
this picture of your Valentine could pass for a picture of your other Valentine Jake, minus the facial hair. Spitting images they are.

You never disappoint, Erin, even in your need for an attitude adjustment. (We all need them sometimes!) Hooray for you, getting to meet an idol!

Erin, you were such a blessing in our lives 16 years ago when you wanted to change your life! I am so glad you were sent here for a reason to help with Kenzee and get set up on 2 blind dates. So glad the 2nd one turned out. Try and imagine what your life would have been had you not moved to St George or met Kim. You are a wonderful daughter of God and a terrific mom to great kids. We love you!
