Natalie brought the "Kindergarten Sharing Bag" home from school yesterday. Her assignment was to draw a picture of her family and then bring it back to class and tell everyone about each person in her family. So, last night, we broke out the colored pencils and paper and she drew a family just as she pictured it in her mind...you know the kind...huge heads, stick legs and arms. She did a great job and even drew Buddy in. Today, she got in the car after her day at school was over and this was our conversation:
Me: "How was the sharing bag?"
Nat: "It was great. I told everyone about our family."
Me: "What did you say?"
Nat: "I said "This is my dad (pointing to each person in the picture as she talked about them). He likes to play golf and watch football on TV. This is Abby. She likes to play violin and watch TV. This is Emily. She likes to play with her friends. This is Jake. He likes to play football."
Me: "What did you say about me?"
Nat: "Oh, I told them: "This is my mom. She likes to clean house."
Nice. Really nice.

I can't even imagine what my kids would have said about me at 5! At least the kids (and teacher) know you're a good housekeeper. :)
My nephew had to do a questionnaire about his family at about the same age and said about my sister: "My mom likes to eat and take naps." See, it could be worse.
Gotta love Nat. She'll tell it like it is! But hey...at least she recognizes it right? ;)
At least she notices??? And it helps that you're REALLY good at it too at least she didn't say "I don't know what she does?" It shows she knows you.
Could be worse. She could have said, "she likes to watch tv." now THAT would be complimentary. ;)
You must do your cleaning with a smile on your face, humming some catchy tune and in your handmade apron.... Me? Usually darting from room to room, loudly asking the kids why this is here or there, forehead all scrunched up, and with several heavy sighs. I'd totally take Nat's remark as a compliment!
Too funny! I'm sure you'd rate "cleaning house" as one of your top 10 best things to do, right!?
Kids say the darndest things. I remember one time we were at a function for Young Women's and Kristi told everyone that I liked to eat M & M's after everyone went to bed and that I hid them in the couch cushions! Well, it was true, but so embarrassing that she told everyone and that everyone knew I was a sneak eater. Love those kids.
