Too Cute to Puke On!

Kim has been traveling to St. George for the past two weeks....he leaves on Sunday nights and comes home on Fridays. Only about 4 more weeks to go! It seems that the first few weeks aren't so bad. We do our usual daily stuff, we eat cold cereal or canned soup for dinner (yes, mother, I know it's horrifying!) and I can let the cleaning slide until Fridays. One thing that I have gotten into the habit of doing when Kim is not here is staying up until all hours of the night....it seems that these hours after about 9 pm are the only source of peace and quiet that I get in my day. So, when the kids go to bed, I get out the projects. Last week, I dusted off the sewing machine and made burp cloths and flannel baby blankets. This picture is my version of a pimped out burp cloth...it's waaaayyyy to cute to puke on! It's really just a cloth diaper with ribbon stitched on. Heaven knows I can't really sew, but I can stitch a straight line, I guess! I stayed up until 1:30 or 2:00 am. I had a movie on (all the chic flicks that Kim won't watch with me...this last week was 'The Secret Life of Bees' and 'Pride and Prejudice') and just sewed away until they were done. It wouldn't be so bad except I still have to get up and function the next day! I'll be grateful when Kim is home full time again. Until then, I'm holding down the fort. I hope that when he returns, the kids will still be alive and I won't have committed myself to the looney bin....

I'm impressed!! Are these for sale or are you keeping them for yourself? ;)

Erin,
So cute! The only draw back was as soon as I saw this darling burpcloth Kenny Loggins stung my ears, something about a Dangerzone? Seriously, I love the ribbon at the bottom! Had so much fun Saturday and I can't wait to get the quilting bee going.

I hate when Ryan is gone too I find myself staying up later than I should too, I wish I knew how to sew cause that would be better than watching tv and trying not to eat everything in sight!! Cute burp cloths and you are right those are too cute to puke on!

You are too talented! Isn't having time to yourself with no interruptions the best thing ever??

I've got the same problem. I stay up way too late. I've been itching to make myself an apron so maybe you'll inspire me.

You stayed up late sowing a burp clothe? May I ask why? I would have to agree though, it's way too cute to puke on! I have the same problem with staying up late when Jonny is out of town (which is ALL the time), because it's my only down time! It's so hard to just go to bed and miss out on "my" time. Oh well. Did you like The Secret Life of Bees?

P.S. How many sisters in R.S. usually show up? :)

Yes, I liked the Secret Life of Bees...I had read the book a couple of years ago, so it was fun to see the movie. In R.S., usually less than 40, closer to 25-30 the last couple of weeks. You'll do great!

Oh, Erin, you are too cute. I discovered your blog when I was on Kristi's. Grandma told me you were made the R.S. president. I'm sure you'll do a great job. Just remember that most of the R.S. ladies work these days and most of them probably don't know how to sew, cook, or any of the other "Molly Mormon" things. I remember being a young mother who always had to work and feeling so unaccomplished and such a failure because I was not home with my kids. I finally realized that I was a good mom, even if I did have to work. And I can cook, sew, crochet, etc. I learned those things in Primary, back in the olden days!!! And I watch the Food Network more than any other things on TV. I collect cookbooks and I love to read them. I would have to start cooking now and not stop until I drop dead to try to make all the receipes I've collected over the years. I still keeping going back to the same old ones. By the way, your kitchen cabinets look great. Love you! Aunt Kris
