Yesterday was a stressful day. I had a million things to do around the house and only a few short hours that the kids were in school to get it all done. I spent the day folding, cleaning, mopping...you get the picture. Well, when I have days like this, Natalie gets stuck entertaing herself. I had her TV shows on (yes, I know...mother 'o the year) and a snack and I headed upstairs to fold literally 10 loads of laundry that had piled up in my room. I came downstairs a while later to see a big pile of black hair all over the couch. My first thought was that it was dog hair...but, after questioning the bored 3 year old trouble finder, I found out that it wasn't dog hair, but hair cut from a black
stuffed dog. So, I take away the scissors, clean up the mess and get her down for 'rest-time' (what we now call it instead of a N-A-P...we mom's have to use tricky vocabulary sometimes). Later on that evening we had to head out to Jake's Cub Scout Pack Meeting. They were serving dinner, which I was grateful to not have to cook, but it's always a little hairy and chaotic when I'm with all the kids by myself. We're stitting there, waiting for our turn in the buffet line and I look over a Natalie. Her hair is falling out of her braid, which is not unusual. But, what WAS unusual was the HANDFUL of short, short hairs that were NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE!! Yes, she cut her own hair in her adventures with the stuffed dog that afternoon. Lucky for her we were in a public place where I couldn't come unglued...
This is what it looked like this morning as I was brushing through it. You can't quite see all the hairs that she managed to get in the back. They seemed to be at least long enough to make it into the pony tail.
This is Natalie the Trouble-Finder AFTER her haircut. (Slightly reminding me of Willie Wonka or Dora the Explorer?)It took quite awhile to get it straight and blend in all the stray short pieces that she had cut herself. Ugh! She was threatened with the statement that if she EVER CUT HER HAIR AGAIN, I will buzz it off with the hair clippers, just like Jakes. It moved her to tears and a few "I'm sorry" statements. Also, can you read her t-shirt? "Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Get In Trouble Too". My sentiments, exactly! I am off to hide the scissors....

Nice!!! No more fun girly hair do's for me to do anymore ;(
Who knows, maybe Natalie will be a hair designer when she is older. I love the new cut it is darling. Life is oh so, so funny.

I think Nat's new do is adorable. Candace cut her hair once when she was 4. Right smack in the middle of her bangs (of which she had none at the time) and completely to her scalp about 2" across. Why do they do it? I say leave the poisons out and lock the scissors up:)
That is sooo funny! She is adorable no matter what, reminds me of Ramona Quimby, did you ever read those books? I like the cut!
She looks like Emily! Maybe it's the devious smile, but she looks just like Emily in the picture!
A couple of years ago, Justin and Brooke's daughter, Callee, took the scissors to her hair, but she cut one side clear to her scalp in a couple of places. Brooke ended up having to cut her hair super short in order to try to fix it. When asked why she did it, Callee who had been watching TV at 1:00 in the morning, said, "It was bothering me." It has since grown out quite nicely. Kristi cut her bangs when she was about 5 and in Kindergarten, right before school pictures. She cut right in the middle of her forehead, right at the scalp line. Lesson to be learned, hide the scissors!!! Love, Aunt Kris
I love her cute haircut...maybe it was a blessing in disguise??
Savannah did that THREE times, three. I threatened each and every time, but she still repeated.
I love trouble makers, they are the most fun!
Didn't Emily do something similar? Must be genetic, my girls have never done this! I love your Willy Wonka comment... just powder dust her face and give her a tophat!!
At least she didn't cut it as bad as Callee did one time, she literally scalped herself in a few places! Oh well most kids do that and her new hair cut looks cute on her and the up side is it will grow back eventually!
